The Olympic Marmot

An Olympic marmot sits in a meadow near Obstruction Point

I’ve only ever seen Olympic marmots once, near the road on the way back from Obstruction Point after a day of hiking at Hurricane Ridge. The marmots are endemic to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, the National Park service has more info if you’re interested.

    1. Neat! Thanks for sharing, wish their numbers weren’t in decline. I look for them whenever I’m up there but so far I’ve just seen them the one time. Last time it was pouring rain all day so maybe they are just smarter than me …
